New Co-funding for the Water Quality Assurance Fund model
The Conrad N. Hilton Foundation and The Leona M. and Harry B. Helmsley Charitable Trust have both approved three-year grants of USD 1.5 Million each to Aquaya to co-fund evaluations of the Water Quality Assurance Fund (the “Assurance Fund”) model that REAL-Water researchers are initiating in multiple countries of sub-Saharan Africa. USAID is providing core funding of about USD 2 Million for the Assurance Fund expansion via their REAL-Water cooperative agreement with Aquaya.
The Water Quality Assurance Fund provides an innovative financial approach for expanding water quality testing services to small rural water supplies. The Assurance Fund details are provided here. Based on promising Assurance Fund pilot results in Ghana with original funding from the Conrad N. Hilton Foundation, REAL-Water will expand the Assurance Fund implementation and conduct evaluation trials in Ghana, Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda.
